Partners in Tourism – 10 Federal Agencies and 12 National Entities –
meet with practitioners from 22 states during
the first annual Cultural Heritage Tourism Exchange.

More than 100 practitioners in Cultural Heritage Tourism gathered on May 3, 2011 for a national conversation to:

  • Identify collective needs and opportunities for advancing cultural heritage tourism in America
  • Network with peers and representatives to renew partnerships, build new collaborations
  • Share stories, insights and opinions related to specific topics

One of the priorities identified by practitioners attending the Exchange included more research on cultural heritage tourism. The Department of Commerce's Office of Travel & Tourism Industries (OTTI), a sponsor of the Exchange, has responded to this need by producing a new segment industry report.

The 2010 Cultural Heritage Traveler Report provides timely information about international visitors to the United States engaging in cultural and heritage activities. This report further demonstrates the importance of our cultural and heritage assets to the industry and the visitor experience.

To download a copy, visit the OTTI website.

Additional information and outcomes generated from the Exchange will be posted here in future for reference. Also, an announcement regarding the second Cultural Heritage Tourism Exchange will be posted in September.
